Somatic Bodywork Protocols

Five protocols. One body. Infinite depth.

The Somatic Bodywork Protocols are the cornerstone of this practice — designed to meet you exactly where you are and guide you deeper into your own embodiment. Each protocol works with your neuromuscular system to restore function, relieve pain, and rewire chronic holding patterns. Whether you’re here for precise, focused work or a full-body recalibration, there’s a tier for every level of healing.

Please note: Most of these protocols are designed to address layered neuromuscular dysfunction within specific regions. If you want a full-body session, then you either need to book Full Body (120 Minutes) protocol or Scandi-Zen (60 Minutes) protocol. The Scandi-Zen protocol is a fully-clothed, floor-based, facilitated stretching protocol inspired by Thai yoga (aka Lazy Man’s Yoga).

Targeted Tune-up — 30 Minutes

Efficient. Targeted. Direct.

A modality-and-tool-heavy neuromuscular intervention designed for fast, effective relief. This session utilizes techniques such as cupping, scraping, trigger point tools, facilitated stretching, and targeted decompression to address acute tension and restricted movement patterns.

Focused primarily on the posterior chain—from traps to glutes—this is ideal for clients needing efficient recovery work without committing to a full somatic session.

Ideal for: acute tension, gym recovery, desk posture strain, and maintenance work.

Recommended frequency: once weekly or as-needed maintenance.

Focused — 60 Minutes

Focused. Clinical. Restorative.

Acute pain? Old injury flaring up? This session is a surgical strike.

We zero in on exactly where you’re hurting and use clinical, body-first techniques to create relief, restore movement, and reduce compensation patterns before they spread elsewhere in the body.

While this session includes somatic elements, the focus remains functional and corrective rather than full nervous system immersion.

Ideal for: isolated pain, injury flare-ups, mobility restrictions, and stubborn tension patterns.

Recommended frequency: every 2 weeks for corrective and functional support.

 

Half Body — 90 Minutes

Functional chain work. Mind meets body.

This is where deeper somatic work begins.

We focus on one major functional chain—anterior, posterior, superior, or inferior—while introducing nervous system regulation, breathwork, and mind-body awareness. We don’t just treat pain—we begin asking why it exists.

Through sensory feedback, fascia work, breath, and intentional pacing, this session starts rewiring the dialogue between brain and body.

Ideal for: chronic regional pain, stress accumulation, emotional holding patterns, and nervous system support.

Recommended frequency: every 3-4 weeks for deeper nervous system and neuromuscular pattern work.

Full Body — 120 Minutes

Somatic layers. Nervous system reset. Realignment.

This is deep, whole-system somatic bodywork designed to regulate, restore, and reconnect.

We address fascia, breath, muscle tension, movement patterns, and nervous system regulation across the entire body. These sessions are intentionally slower, deeper, and more immersive—allowing the body to fully downshift and release long-held compensation patterns.

Ideal for: full-body rebalancing, burnout recovery, chronic stress, trauma-informed somatic work, and integrated nervous system care.

Recommended frequency: every 4-6 weeks for full-system restoration and somatic reset.

Scandi-Zen — 60 Minutes

Facilitated stretching. Fully clothed. Floor-based.

Inspired by Thai yoga bodywork and adapted through a Nordic lens, this fully clothed mat-based session blends assisted stretching, rhythmic compression, mobility work, and breath-based movement to promote nervous system regulation and functional recovery.

This is a grounded, restorative form of bodywork designed for clients who want a noninvasive, movement-centered approach to healing and relaxation.

Sessions may take place outdoors (weather permitting) to deepen the calming, sensory-regulating effects of nature-based somatic work.

Ideal for: mobility support, nervous system regulation, beginners to bodywork, and clients who prefer a non-table experience.

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for free movement.

Recommended frequency: every 2-4 weeks for mobility, recovery, and nervous system regulation.

Enhancements

Functional layers for a multidimensional body. Choose what calls to you.

These enhancements are designed to deepen recovery, enhance nervous system regulation, and personalize your session experience.

Because each session is built around a specific therapeutic goal, not all add-ons are compatible with every service.

For example, Targeted Tune-Up sessions are limited to practical recovery enhancements such as Kinesio Taping, Indigenous CBD Oil, and an Extra Hot Towel due to the fast-paced, clinically focused nature of the protocol.

The Ritual enhancement is reserved exclusively for Half Body (90 Minutes) and Full Body (120 Minutes) sessions, where there is adequate time for deeper nervous system immersion and somatic integration.

Craniosacral Reset work is naturally incorporated into the Full Body (120 Minutes) experience, rather than offered as a standalone add-on.

Every enhancement is selected intentionally to support the overall goal of your session—not simply to add more, but to deepen the effectiveness of the work. If you’re unsure which enhancements are right for you, feel free to reach out. Guidance and collaboration is always part of the process.

The Ritual

This is the full Hillheim experience.

Deepen your session with an immersive Scandinavian-inspired somatic ritual designed to regulate the nervous system and reconnect you with the body through intentional touch, breathwork, curated sound, grounding elements, guided stillness, and botanical support.

Depending on your needs and comfort level, sessions may incorporate herbal preparations such as teas, tinctures, aromatics, and other restorative sensory elements to enhance relaxation, embodiment, and integration.

This offering is intentionally slower, deeper, and more immersive than traditional bodywork, creating space for profound physical release, emotional processing, and nervous system restoration.

Because of the individualized nature of this protocol, first-time Ritual clients are required to complete a consultation prior to booking.

Craniosacral Reset

Stillness. Rest. Regulation.

Drop into deep stillness with this nervous system recalibration. Using subtle, intentional touch, this 15-minute craniosacral reset helps release stored tension in the skull, spine, and sacrum. Clients report feeling calmer, clearer, and more balanced—like their system got a “soft reboot.” Ideal for those struggling with stress, anxiety, brain fog, or chronic pain. This gentle but potent reset taps into the parasympathetic system, encouraging deep rest and regulation.

Indigenous CBD Oil

Holistic pain management.

Hand-crafted, full-spectrum CBD melted into warm jajoba oil, then slow-steeped with sage and palo santo. The cannabinoids calm your endocannabinoid system, easing inflammation and fascial tension, while the sacred smoke botanicals cue the limbic brain to drop into parasympathetic “rest and repair.” Expect deeper melt, steadier breath, and a grounded, ceremonial finish.

Nordic Botanical Salve

Rejuvenate and seal.

Old-world self-care, reimagined: grass-fed organic beef tallow whipped silk-light with moss, birch, pine, and juniper. Vitamin-rich lipids feed the skin barrier, seal in post-session hydration, and create a slow-warming glide that lets us work layer-by-layer without re-oiling. Subtle forest aromatics nudge micro-circulation, guiding muscles and nervous system into a long, Norse winter’s nap.

Ozark Magnesium-Herb Salt Scrub

Friction that fuels flow.

Coarse Epsom crystals blended with locally foraged mint, rose, and chamomile. Quick exfoliation boosts lymph flow; trans-dermal magnesium quiets cramping and over-firing nerves. Finished with a warm compress sweep to melt the salts, leaving tissues primed for deeper release and your whole system humming like spring water in the Ozarks.

Kinesio Taping

Supportive recovery. Functional movement. Extended relief.

Kinesiology tape is applied strategically to help support muscles and joints, reduce strain, improve body awareness, and extend the benefits of your session beyond the treatment room. This lightweight, flexible tape moves naturally with the body while encouraging healthier movement patterns and improved recovery.

Ideal for athletic recovery, posture support, joint instability, overuse tension, and clients navigating chronic pain or mobility restrictions. Kinesio taping can help reduce irritation, improve circulation, and provide gentle structural support without restricting movement.

Extra Hot Towel

Weighted heat for grounding and release.

Sometimes, you just need more heat. This upgrade blankets your body in an extra hot towel throughout your session—layered at key moments to melt tension, soothe the nervous system, and invite your fascia to release fully. Perfect for cold days, extra sore muscles, or clients craving comfort and warmth. Heat enhances circulation, softens connective tissue, and increases the effectiveness of manual therapy.
